"Act Now" Charity T-shirt in Black
To honour the memory of GSFC player Timothy "Timo" Chiwaula, Saints have released a charity t-shirt that has been designed with Timo very much in mind.
Timo was an outstanding football player, an extremely talented actor and a friend to all who knew him.
The design of this t-shirt is much more subtle than our previous "Anti-hate" shirt, however the short message on the sleeve is again a very important one. The message "ACT NOW" references Timo's love for acting, as well as being a short, sharp reminder for all of us to take action and check in with friends, family, teammates and loved ones. It is also in reference to "Ignite" Theatre Group, who 50% of all net proceeds will be donated to.
The remaining 50% of net proceeds will be used by our own Glasgow Saints Charity to allow us to continue to provide unrestricted access to football for players on low or no income.
Glasgow Saints is a Charity based around community and football. We have our Charity Club crest, as well as club crests for our current x3 teams - Glasgow Saints Men, Dennistoun Saints Men and Glasgow Saints Women. This t-shirt features our Glasgow Saints men's team badge; who Timo played for, which was redesigned to incorporate the number 15, Timo's strip that has since been retired in his memory.
Why we chose Ignite:
Ignite Theatre works with children and young people from diverse backgrounds who live in Glasgow. Their members come from across the globe; may of whom face multiple challenges, whether that be poverty, discrimination, being a young carer, or having additional needs.
Through free weekly workshops and innovative drama projects, Ignite Theatre offers its members a supported environment in which they can fulfil their creative potential, develop confidence, forge new friendships and build their life skills to give them a better chance of achieving their goals. Objectives very much mirrored by Glasgow Saints on a sporting platform and the reason for why we chose this particular group amongst the many based in Glasgow.
On behalf of everyone at Saints, thank you for supporting these two very worthwhile causes. Please wear your t-shirt with pride and in celebration of Timo.
